The Australian Insect Molecular Biology Conference (formerly known as "Corowa") will this year again be held in the beautiful Yarra Valley, approximately 75km from the centre of Melbourne. This informal and friendly meeting is being held from Friday the 29th to Sunday 31st of August 2008.
The venue is the Alpine Ash Retreat, which is surrounded by Mountain Ash forest and wineries and only approximately 1 hour from Melbourne airport. We envisage the lab groups will arrange their own transport from the airport. However if you need assistance please contact us and we'll organize some Melbourne folks to pick you up.
The opening talk on Friday evening will be given by Bruno van Swinderen from the Queensland Brain Institute of the University of Queensland. Bruno has recently started a new group working on mechanisms of perception, selective attention and sleep in the fly. Bruno's talk will be followed by a mixer. Talks will then run all day Saturday and Sunday morning, concluding around noon on Sunday.
